About the department
The Sheriff's Office patrols the county outside city limits: rural highways, outlying properties, and the areas PD does not cover. Deputies work with more independence and longer response times than city officers, which makes the role a good fit for members who enjoy self-directed patrol.
Deputies also handle prisoner transport and corrections duties, and routinely provide mutual aid on major city incidents.
