Keeping the roads open and safe.
Fox River Department of Transportation
Road closures, hazard mitigation, vehicle recovery, and roadway advisories that every other department depends on.
About the department
DOT handles the infrastructure side of emergencies: closing roads around a scene, clearing hazards, recovering disabled vehicles, and posting advisories that dispatch and every field unit can see.
It is a quieter department than the emergency services, but a highly visible one — a well-run DOT makes major scenes feel real, and its advisories drive the roadway picture in the CAD for everyone else.
What you will do
- Establishing and logging road closures and detours
- Clearing roadway hazards and debris
- Vehicle recovery and towing operations
- Posting active roadway advisories visible to all CAD panels
- Traffic control at major incident scenes
What is expected of you
- Log every closure, hazard, and recovery in the CAD
- Coordinate with the incident commander before entering a scene
